Hidden Grove 「間」(Ma)

This is a project I created with the intention of not following any specific reference path. My goal was simply to create instinctively — guided by imagination and fond memories of what I enjoy in an environment.

One thing I truly appreciate in scenes is the contemplation of nature. A great example of this is found in the works of Hayao Miyazaki, who often incorporates the Japanese philosophy known as 「間」(Ma), meaning “time” or “space” — the space between events. Many older works embraced this concept to give the viewer room to breathe between moments. A film, for instance, should never end in the midst of chaos, nor should it be made up only of action scenes — even if it’s an action film.

Unfortunately, cinema — and even the game industry — has been moving away from that. The fast pace of modern productions has made viewers more anxious, to the point that many can no longer enjoy quiet films like Alice (1988), available on YouTube.

Personally, I find myself increasingly discouraged when watching new releases. Everything feels too fast, poorly explained, lacking in depth... Just more noisy content that, halfway through, already makes me wish it would end — just so I can have some silence.
